Once again, never have been a big video game player and boy was that adamant when I used the word carmageddon last week to describe the new Twisted Metal teaser as it would appear that there is a game with that name and all the whiners out there had to accuse me of not knowing what fucking video game I was talking about. Needless to say, I won all arguments and here we go again as there is another trailer hitting the net today with Sony’s Gran Turismo featuring an all-star cast including David Harbour, Orlando Bloom and Archie Madekwe. OK, I have no idea who he is but he’s front and center on the key art and the trailer so good for him. Check out the paint peeling footage below!

Based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional racecar driver.

One good sign besides Bloom and Harbour featuring in the movie, not to forget the always gravitas filled Djimon Hounsou, is that District 9 helmer Neill Blomkamp directed from a screenplay penned by co-executive producer Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. The movie stars the aforementioned David Harbour, Archie Madekwe, Orlando Bloom as well as Darren Barnet, Djimon Hounsou, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Daniel Puig, Josha Stradowski, and German actor Thomas Kretschmann.

I like how they used the true story of that gamer who actually used those skills to become a professional driver as that will surely add meat to the plot. The car racing sequences look dynamite too, so I’ll be checking this one out as someone who hates playing car racing games. I’m sorry but I find them bland and boring. There’s nothing like a good fisticuffs or firepower filled video game to get your blood boiling but that’s just my opinion. Sue me because I could care less.

Gran Turismo races into theaters this summer on August 11th. Now can we finally fucking see footage from Expendables 4 seeing as that one hits in September? Is that too much to ask?
