This was quite unexpected as today Legendary Pictures has unveiled a special teaser trailer that reveals the next entry in the Monsterverse franchise featuring iconic Godzilla and King Kong! Check it out below along with a synopsis!

As you can see in the teaser, a mysterious and new monster is in the shadows sitting on a throne which looks…well…legendary. When his eyes illuminate, I think I screamed a little. Then you hear Kong’s iconic growl followed by Godzilla’s! The new title is officially GODZILLA x KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE! I think I’ve used enough exclamation points! Check out the synopsis below!

This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

The coolest aspect in the reveal is that Godzilla and Kong will battle side by side against a mysterious threat to our world. This movie is far off and I already cannot contain my excitement. Godzilla vs. Kong was as advertised and one of the best monster movies ever.

Cast members returning from the previous film include Rebecca Hall who stars as monster expert Dr. Ilene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry who offered levity as conspiracy theorist Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle will also be back as Jia who was the young girl who befriended Kong. New additions include Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok), Alex Ferns (The Batman), Fala Chen (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), and Mercy Cornwall (Dive Club). Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens is also in the movie.

Godzilla Vs Kong helmer Adam Winegard is said to be returning in the director’s chair and he’ll be the first to helm more than one Monsterverse film. Winegard and Stevens have worked together on The Guest.
