THE GANGSTER, THE COP, THE DEVIL- Don Lee Set to Reprise Role in the Upcoming Remake which Sees Sylvester Stallone Producing

I’m not sure how you feel about remakes and I mean remakes of films that were just fine they way they were but we’ve got another one coming our way courtesy of Paramount Pictures which will reimagine a hit Korean gangster flick.

The film is South Korea’s The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil which starred breakout star Don Lee (AKA Ma Dong-seok). The South Korean actor has since gone on to play in Marvel’s The Eternals but word from Deadline is that Lee is set to reprise his time from the original. That’s right, Lee will not only star in the remake but he will also be producing alongside none other than Sylvester Stallone. Sly is set to produce via his Balboa Productions Banner.

It’s also important to note that this planned remake with Lee is in the very early stages of development so there will be a wait ti see how it turns out.

The original film centered on fierce and feared gang boss Jang Dong-su (Lee), who barely survives a violent attack by an elusive serial killer. With his reputation damaged, the only way for Jang to restore his image is to find the attacker and exact revenge. He thus forms an unlikely partnership with a local detective to catch the sadistic criminal simply known as “K.” Watch the original trailer below. Per Deadline

The original, helmed by Lee Won-tae, was a hit in its native South Korea as well as worldwide garnishing $48.4 million dollars. We’ll Go USA picked up the film a few years back and it did stellar business as fans over here are hungry for more Korean film output as they are really redefining the action genre right now. It currently sits at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

While we wait for more details, check out the official Well Go USA trailer for the first film and remember to keep it locked and loaded right here as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
