The upcoming follow up to the Old Guard starring Charlize Theron has added some massive star firepower as Deadline is bringing word that Kill Bill’s Uma Thurman and Snake Eyes star Henry Golding have enlisted for the anticipated, high-octane sequel to the successful Netflix film that hit the service during the height of the pandemic. We, of course, do not have any info as to who the two additions will be playing but I’m sure we will find out once production heats up,

Thurman and Golding join Theron and returning cast members KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo and Chiwetel Ejiofor. While Gina Prince-Bythewood helmed the first The Old Guard, Victoria Mahoney has filled the shoes this time around will direct the sequel from Greg Rucka’s script. Rucka created the graphic novel that film is based on along with Leandro Fernández

The first film followed a covert team of immortal mercenaries that were suddenly exposed, fighting to keep their identity a secret just as an unexpected new member was discovered. Details with regard to the sequel’s plot have thus far been kept under wraps, but the project appears to be gaining momentum, with its first castings since its initial announcement back in August of last year. I was a fan of the original film and even though it was too long and suffered from pacing issues, it was a solid action thriller with some impressive fight and action set pieces. You can read my full review of the film here.
