Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is looking for the hat trick when it comes to working with director Shawn Levy as the latter is in active negotiations to direct Reynolds for a third time with the upcoming Deadpool 3. Levy has already worked with the star on Free Guy and most recently The Adam Project which just launched on Netflix today.
Reynolds also made the announcement with some pretty sweet artwork stating that his next assignment with Levy “will be a tad more stabby.”
Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin were penning there script at one time but it appears that original Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have since taken over.
The biggest news was made a while back when Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that even though The Merc with a Mouth was in the MCU, he would still be politically incorrect and Rated R.
“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now. So it’s begun,” Feige said in an interview with Collider. “It will not be this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we have to now make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
Reynolds and Levy seem to have a cosmic connection as both Free Guy and now The Adam Project have received mostly positive reviews and have scored with audiences.
Deadpool 3 is looking to go into production soon so now that we most likely have a director, more casting announcements will soon be made.
