First of all, let me just say that it’s kick ass to be friends with martial artist and action star Jalal Merhi on Facebook. I’m not very fond of social media but I will say it’s a great way to connect with action film celebrities and it has given me ample opportunity to talk to a lot of them.
The star of such classic DTV action pics like the Tiger Claws, trilogy, Talons of the Eagle and TC-2000 is back with a bang with a new series that he is behind of creatively which is a continuation of The Circuit films that starred another favorite DTV action star in Olivier Gruner. Merhi is wearing many hats on this production serving as director, producer and co-writer so it’s a real passion project for the actor and filmmaker who helmed all three films that this series is based on.
Gruner stars once again as Dirk Longstreet in a new series that will pick up after the events of the third movie which hit in 2006 and this one will be watch worthy because it features the return of the kicking machine Billy Blanks!
From the looks of a new trailer that Merhi dropped on his official Facebook page, Gruner and Blanks are thrust into the deadly world of underground fighting for different reasons. Check out the bruising new footage below!
The Circuit series will also feature a host of noteworthy DTV action stars like Eric Roberts, Paul Logan and Richard Tyson.
Merhi mentions that the new trailer will be presented at the MIPTV Cannes so hopefully we will get to see this really soon because it just oozes throwback 90’s action when movies like these flooded video store shelves.
