Here’s a sequel that I didn’t see coming, especially with how the first film ended for its star. Apparently, Warner Bros. is fast tracking a sequel to the 2007 post apocalyptic thriller I Am Legend.
According to the report over at Deadline, Will Smith has been tapped to return along with Michael B. Jordan who has definitely seen his stock rise in the last few years.
No plot details are available of course but Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman, who adapted the original film from the 1954 novel penned by Richard Matheson, is also returning to write the follow up.
Smith and Jordan will also serve as producers and their deals have been finalized so they are definitely attached to the project.
No director or other cast members have been lined up yet as this project is in the early stages of development.
The original film saw Smith starring as:
Robert Neville (Will Smith), who is a scientist who was unable to stop the spread of the terrible virus that was incurable and man-made in this post-apocalyptic action thriller. Immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and perhaps the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague – the Infected – lurk in the shadows – watching Neville’s every move – waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered – and quickly running out of time.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come on this developing project as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
