Personally, I’m still waiting for Night has Fallen but unfortunately I think that ship has sailed. Gerard Butler is keeping busy though as he has a variety of action related titles coming in the future like the actioner Kandahar as well as a sequel to Den of Thieves.
Deadline is also reporting that Butler has just enlisted for a new heist thriller called Just Watch Me. The script is set to be penned by John Wick scribe Derek Kolstad and the property is based on a series of novels about Riley Wolfe who is a master thief. Jeff Lindsay, who also is responsible for Dexter, is the author of the books.
Per Deadline: Just Watch Me, the first in the Riley Wolfe book series, follows Wolfe, a master thief and expert in disguise who targets the wealthiest 0.1 percent. The likeable bad guy teams up with a master forger named Monique and a team of expert thieves on a job that will make history.
It is said that production is hopefully going to commence in the fourth quarter of this year. Butler, per usual, is also set to produce via his G-Base production banner.
Butler at one time was supposed to add a fourth entry in the Has Fallen franchise which was tentatively titled Night has Fallen but with Butler bringing a lawsuit to Millennium Films who put those pictures out, that project might be sunk. IMDB still has that entry listed as in development but it’s not looking so hot right now.
Butler seems to have moved on with several other projects including Chase, Remote Control, Afterburn and a sequel to Greenland. In my honest opinion, we need more Mike Banning in action cinema so hopefully things will improve on that front. After all, money talks and Bullsh!t walks. Stay tuned.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more details on the horizon as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond.
