Is been a while since I posted some news about Frank Grillo which seems weird as the actor seems to be in every other movie being released. The drought is over as Deadline strikes again in bringing word that Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to his upcoming action/thriller Little Dixie. It is a strange name for an action movie but I like it as it bears meaning to someone who is important in the movie so it’s actually pretty catchy.

In the Roxwell Films title, Grillo portrays Doc, who facilitates a fragile truce between the Governor and a cartel, trading prosecutorial leniency for finance. When this truce dissolves, Doc is left to fend for himself and protect the one untainted thing in his life: his daughter, Little Dixie.

Little Dixie reunites Grillo with his Ida Red director John Swab who helms the pic. The film also stars Eric Dane (Euphoria, Grey’s Anatomy), Beau Knapp (The Nice Guys, Mosquito State) and Annabeth Gish (Midnight Mass).

Paramount is set to release the movie later this year so it’ll definitely be on my radar from here on out. I need a Grillo action fix ASAP so here’s hoping that this one oozes gravitas and bullets like Grillo’s past efforts. Ida Red was on my list of best movies last year so I’m eager to see what the duo of Grillo and Swab do for a follow up.
