Do you remember that time when it was teased the Sylvester Stallone would venture to television for a Rambo series where he would play opposite a younger actor who would be his son? Well, to say the least, that didn’t work out so well but it appears that Sly still has the TV bug as Deadline is reporting that the Hollywood icon will be starring in a new Mobster series with a twist from creators Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter.
Even though the series titled Kansas City sounds more drama than action, it still has an interesting premise as Stallone will play an aging monster who is forced to relocate from New York City to Kansas City, Missouri. It definitely has a fish out of water appeal to it which will must likely be infused with dark comedy.
Stallone is in talks for the project which will air on the Paramount + streaming service with Sly producing via his Balboa production banner along with series creators Sheridan and Winter.
This will mark Stallone’s first leading television role. The A lister has appeared on TV before with guest stints on such 70’s shows as Police Story and Kojak and lost recently appeared on the hit series This is Us.
Sheridan is a hit commodity in television right now having created numerous hit series such as Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown and 1883.
No other news is available in terms of casting so be on the lookout for more details to come in the future. By the way, wasn’t Stallone and Lundgren supposed to reunite for a series as well! Oh yeah, that was The International and it had Lundgren starring and Stallone helming with CBS picking up a pilot order. That was announced in October of 2019 pre-COVID so it’s been radio silent since. Here’s hoping that still surfaces sometime in the future.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come as we are your destination for everything action!
