I was looking forward to seeing Chris Pine go all action hero in his new thriller Violence of Action but I’ll have to wait as STXfilms has pushed the release date. The film also has gotten a name change to…drum roll please…The Contractor. I knew the original title wouldn’t stick so now we have a title worthy of a Steven Seagal DTV movie. Actually, there’s a 2007 DTV Wesley Snipes pic that has that name so try not to confuse the two.
The Contractor was originally supposed to drop on my birthday which is December 10th but unfortunately it will now hit next year on March 18th. So much for a violent and action packed birthday present. Pine stars along with Ben Foster and Kiefer Sutherland.
The Contractor centers on James Harper (Pine), who is involuntarily discharged from the U.S. Special Forces, then joining a private contracting organization alongside his best friend (Foster) and under the command of a fellow veteran (Kiefer Sutherland) in order to support his family. Overseas on a covert mission, Harper must evade those trying to kill him while making his way back home.
Good news is that the Jason Starham leading actioner Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre from director Guy Ritchie is still set to launch on January 21st. Hopefully that doesn’t change but it’s a distinct possibility.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more as we are your destination for everything action!
