Just last week, there was a surprise mention that Gerard Butler’s comet killing thriller Greenland would be getting the sequel treatment as a follow up was announced. The film saw success due to the lack of competition during a pandemic plagued year so we will be getting more of that story soon.

With that, we have news of another Butler led action pic which sees him teaming up with the great Frank Grillo no less as Open Road Films will be launching COPSHOP from Director Joe Carnahan this September.

Per Deadline: Written by Carnahan and Kurt McLeod, Copshop follows a wily con artist who is on the run from a lethal assassin. He devises a scheme to hide out inside a small-town police station—but when the hitman turns up at the precinct, an unsuspecting rookie cop finds herself caught in the crosshairs.

Also starring in the thriller is Alexis Louder and Butler and Grillo will also be serving as producers on the film along with Carnahan, Mark Williams, Tai Duncan, Warren Goz, Eric Gold, Carnahan, Grillo, Butler, Alan Siegel, James Masciello who represents Raven Capital Management who acquired Open Road Films back in 2018.

“Anticipating the resurgence of cinema going post-pandemic, we made Copshop with theatrical audiences specifically in mind, delivering a big-time event experience with an original bent,” James Masciello stated. “Everyone is at the top of their game in Copshop and we can’t wait for audiences to strap in, and experience this ride for themselves.”

One thing’s for sure, Butler and Grillo in the same film will certainly bring the fireworks and audiences will see them in action when COPSHOP hits theaters on September 17th.
