Even though Rocky IV wasn’t as well received as the previous three entries, it still is considered a classic and launched the career of one Dolph Lundgren. It’s true that the original theatrical version plays out like a long 90 minute music video with montages left and right but it still packs a punch and the climatic match is the stuff of legends. If anything it’s essential viewing for fans do we properly know how awesome the 80’s were.
It was unexpected when Stallone first broke the news but a director’s cut of the film is alive and well and destined to knock out the competition this November. Sly posted the news on Instagram along with a rousing and pinching new poster of Ivan Drago and Rocky Balboa engaging in combat. Check out his post below!
In the post, Stallone announces that the cut which deletes a certain unpopular robot, launches in widescreen and 4K on November 11th. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how this version differs as it will surely flesh out the story more.
Lundgren has gone on to see unmeasurable success in the action genre in the decades following his role in the film and he and Stallone have, of course, hooked up for The Expendables franchise since.
Hopefully a trailer and more images will hit soon so keep it locked and loaded right here for more as we are your destination for everything action!
In the meantime, watch the bruising finale one more time to get you properly pumped up! “Yo Adrian! I Did It!”
