It was announced a while back that actor Oscar Isaac (Star Wars, Dune) was set to portray the Marvel Comics character Moon Knight in an upcoming Disney + MCU limited series. The Golden Globe winning thespian has been training hard for the role and has released a brand new video of the type of fight choreography we will be seeing in the show. Check it out below!

The character of Moon Knight was created in 1975 by Doug Moench and Don Perlin. Isaacs will star as the titular character of former mercenary Mark Spector who is a superhero who uses multiple identities to fight crime.

In the comics, Marc Spector is a former boxer, Marine, CIA operative, and mercenary, who found himself near death after being betrayed by his employer, Raoul Bushman, when they stumbled upon an archaeological dig, which Bushman intended to loot for profit. As he lay dying, Spector was approached by the Egyptian moon god Khonshou, who offered him a second chance at life in exchange for becoming his avatar on Earth. As a result, Spector was resurrected and given superhuman abilities. Upon his return to the United States, he invested the money that he had accumulated as a mercenary to make a fortune, and became the crimefighter “Moon Knight.” He also created multiple identities, most notably that of millionaire Steven Grant, to distance himself from his mercenary past, and of taxicab driver Jake Lockley, to remain in contact with the street and criminal element. From the video footage dropped, it looks like we are in store for some serious fight action. Here’s hoping the finished product looks well and translates well on the small screen.

Isaac is starring along with Ethan Hawke who will be playing the show’s main villain who goes up against Spector. The series is being written and developed by The Umbrella Academy‘s Jeremy Slater with episodes set to be directed by Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab and Synchronic duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.
