The deal has been set and Amazon had officially acquired the sci-fi action film The Tomorrow War which sees the MCU’s Chris Pratt leading a human offensive against a hostile alien invasion.
Deadline brings the word that with the acquisition of the movie, which was originally supposed to hit theaters, that it will be released on 4th of July weekend on July 2nd.
Per Deadline: In The Tomorrow War, written by Zach Dean, the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: 30 years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.
The deal was done with Amazon by the streaming service shelling out a cool $200 million for the movie. It was originally set to be released in cinemas during Christmas of last year but the pandemic changed all that.
Amazon with this film and Without Remorse is really trying to step it up action wise with Netflix and the Michael B. Jordan Black Ops thriller looks pretty damn good so here’s hoping The Tomorrow War brings it as well.

The film was helmed by Chris McKay and he made an official statement as well talking about the cast, and hoping that the movie will deliver for fans.
“I’m so proud of this incredible cast and crew who worked under challenging circumstances to create a unique, original sci-fi action movie… something that’s increasingly rare. Watching this team of actors and artisans effortlessly blend action, horror, comedy, and drama was a dream come true for me … and I hope will thrill audiences this summer,”
