By: John M Jerva

A day after the new key art and release info dropped for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, we have a new behind the scenes image for you which shows Snyder directing star Dave Bautista in a precarious situation as he’s about to be attacked by a leaping member of the undead. Check it out below and remember May 21st is the date to watch and the trailer hits on Thursday!

Zack Snyder took to social media earlier today to reveal brand new key art and a release date for his “balls to the wall” zombie Actioner Army Of The Dead which stars Dave Bautista. The movie will debut on Netflix this summer on May 21st and a new teaser will drop this coming Thursday! To the survivors goes the spoils and expect one hell of a wild, gory, bullet riddled ride!

Official Synopsis: “ARMY OF THE DEAD is an adventure film that takes place after a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, where a man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble: venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.”

Bautista stars along with Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Raúl Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, and Matthias Schweighöfer. Snyder directed and shot the movie and also co-wrote the pic with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold from an original story that Snyder came up with.

“It is a full-blown, balls-to-the-wall zombie heist movie, so it’s genre-on-genre in a great way,” Snyder told Entertainment Weekly a while back. “So you expect pure zombie mayhem, and you get that, 100 percent. But also you get these really amazing characters on a fantastic journey. It’s going to surprise people that there’s a lot of warmth and real emotion with these great characters.

Another fun fact is that Bautista gave up a role in Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn’s Suicide Squad to do this film because he eventually believed so much in it.

“I said I wasn’t interested,” Bautista recalls. “I had this chip on my shoulder and was looking for juicy [dramatic roles]. Then I read the script and it was a lot deeper and had more layers than I thought. And also, to be quite frank, I wanted to work with Zack.”

Snyder has an impending franchise with this one as there is already a prequel film and anime series in the forks to go along with the initial movie. Of course, if it’s successful enough, we’ll see sequels as well but who knows who survives the initial mission.

Mark May 21st on your calendars and check back here on Thursday for the first real look at the all out action/zombie flick!
