Well here’s some unexpected news this weekend as it’s being reported that Sly Stallone is joining the DCEU just like he did for the MCU. Stallone, who appeared in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 now has an appearance in Gunn’s soft reboot of The Suicide Squad. It appears that Stallone has become the go to guy for cameos in comic book films.
Sly first made the announcement on his Instagram account but it was since deleted so it appeared that Stallone was premature in announcing it. Soon after, however, Gunn himself posted on Twitter that the Italian Stallion is indeed a part of the project. Gunn posted a pic of him with Stallone and stated: “Always love working with my friend @TheSlyStallone & our work today on #TheSuicideSquad was no exception. Despite Sly being an iconic movie star, most people still don’t have any idea what an amazing actor this guy is. 🙌” Take a peek at the post below!
Of course, there’s no telling just how much of an impact Stallone will make in the film but even if it’s only a few minutes, it’ll be worth it. It’ll be interesting to hear all the rumors of who’ll he’ll be playing from now until the film’s release.
The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney who return from the original along with new additions Idris Elba, Pete Davidson and John Cena who also has a spin-off of his character Peacemaker in the works at HBO Max.
THE SUICIDE SQUAD hits theaters August 21st, 2021. Take a look at the Sneak Peek that dropped at DC FanDome this summer!
