Well here’s a teaser that will certainly be met with a lot of animosity as The CW has unveiled its first look at Walker which is a reimagining of Walker: Texas Ranger which starred action icon Chuck Norris back in the 90’s. This new version stars Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki and you can check out the first look below but be warned, there is no actual footage from the show in it. Just an animated logo.
Walker, a reimagining of the long-running series Walker, Texas Ranger, stars Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) as Cordell Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there’s harder work to be done at home.
He’ll attempt to reconnect with his creative and thoughtful son (Kale Culley, Me, Myself and I) and his headstrong, somewhat rebellious teenaged daughter (Violet Brinson, Sharp Objects) and navigate clashes with his family – an ADA brother (Keegan Allen, Pretty Little Liars) who stepped in during Walker’s absence, his perceptive mother (Molly Hagen, Herman’s Head) and his traditional rancher father (Mitch Pileggi, The X-Files). Walker’s former colleague is now his Ranger Captain, (Coby Bell, The Game). Walker finds unexpected common ground with his new partner (one of the first women in Texas Rangers’ history) played by Lindsey Morgan, The 100), while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death.
While there isn’t any footage, you do hear Padalecki’s voiceover as a Texas Ranger star hurls through the air striking a wall. Padalacki mentions how for a long time he chose duty over family but now that’s not an option. Hopefully we will get an actual trailer soon.
I am a massive fan of the original with Norris and unlike many out there, I am going to give this one a shot. I’m not one to condemn something before I even get a chance to see it. It will be interesting to see how it’s received though. The first trailer, when released, will definitely give me a more clear opinion.
There is no actual release date for the series but it says that it will hit the air in early 2021. Keep it locked an loaded right here for more to come!
