If this ever came to be, I found be 150 percent down with the idea as John Wick helmer and action maestro Chad Stahelski has stated in an interview with ComicBook.com that he would be totally up for directing the planned Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali. The news of the MCU film was announced last year at SDCC when cons actually happened but unfortunately no other news has been made on the highly anticipated project.

Stahelski, who has only directed the John Wick films up to now, stated in the chat, “If the opportunity ever came, I would like to take a stab at…the one that really jumps out to me would be like Blade. If they were going to redo Blade or something like that, just because I feel that one, for some reason, the vampire martial art action vibe. That would be a cool one to stretch and try and reinvent.”

It was recently announced that Stahelski would be directing his first film besides John Wick with the gritty urban action fantasy Arcana for Lionsgate. Let’s not forget that Chad has also been attached to the Highlander reboot although that project has been stagnant to say the least.

Stahelski has mentioned that he’s not a big comic book movie guy but he does have his favorites of course. “I love the Avengers. I loved Captain America. I like James Gunn’s take on Guardians,” Stahelski said. “I really dig him as a director and what he’s done with that. Ragnarok, I felt was really funny. I thought that was clever. I’ve come around.”

Stahelski will also be busy with his cinematic action baby as it was confirmed that John Wick 4 & 5 are set to film back to back so it will be interesting to see when the stunt pro turned filmmaker would be free to do something else. I normally don’t post stuff that’s not concrete but like I said, Marvel would benefit from having someone like Stahelski hell a film like Blade. It would be the perfect merger.

Marvel…are you listening? Stay tuned and keep it locked and loaded right here.
