Lionsgate has tapped their John Wick action maestro Chad Stahekski to direct a new film called Arcana which is being described as a gritty urban fantasy. This is Stahelski’s first directing gig for Lionsgate since John Wick.
According to Deadline: The film is a gritty urban fantasy set in the hidden world of magical clans. Stahelski will also produce via his 87Eleven Entertainment banner. Lionsgate purchased the script from the writing team of Michael Finch & Alex Litvak, who wrote Predators, and the duo is in demand right now with a project called Versus over at Universal which is said to be an explosive franchise starter. The pair also have the film Medieval at Sony that is waiting in the wings.
Along with Stahelski, 87Eleven’s Jason Spitz and Alex Young will also produce. Finch and Litvak will serve as executive producers for the project as well.
Stahelski has a lot on his plate right now to say the least as it was just announced that John Wick 4 & 5 will film back to back. There is also the long in development Highlander reboot also which Stahelski has been attached to for a while now.
