Fanboys everywhere got their prayers answered today as Vanity Fair dropped the glorious news that Ben Affleck will indeed suit up once again in the cape and cowl and play Batman/Bruce Wayne in the upcoming and long in development Flash solo film.

Per the site: Affleck will play the Caped Crusader one more time in The Flash. This will not in any way interfere with Robert Pattinson’s The Batman which is being directed by Matt Reeves. Pattinson remains the future of the franchise and the iconic character.

The Flash is set to be released in the summer of 2022 and Ezra Miller is set to reprise the role of the scarlet speedster AKA Barry Allen. The film will take the plot line of DC’s Flashpoint saga where The Flash will run into different versions of the same characters. It was also announced that Michael Keaton will also reprise his iconic role as he was the first theatrical Batman in 1989.

The Flash will be helmed by Andy Muschietti who is best known for It and It: Chapter 2. “His Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong, which is his masculinity—because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline —but he’s also very vulnerable,” Muschietti said in an interview of Affleck. “He knows how to deliver from the inside out, that vulnerability. He just needs a story that allows him to bring that contrast, that balance.”

It was announced that Affleck received the script last week and agreed to be part of the project. As of now, he’s only set to do the one film but hopefully he’ll continue as he is a fan favorite. There were rumors that Affleck would play Batman in some way, shape or form on HBO Max but that remains to be seen. He will be seen, of course, in Zack Snyder’s Justice League which will finally see the light of day next year on the Warner Media streaming service.

Stay tuned for more to come and in the meantime, watch BATFLECK kick all kinds of ass in the best Batman fight scene ever from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice! Change my mind!
