This Friday evening saw Warner Bros. Home Entertainment bring the sharks and the action to the SDCC Comic Con@Home in a special panel which included the stars and filmmakers of the upcoming sequel Deep Blue Sea 3 in which they gave us the lowdown on the film and teased audiences with the opening from the film as well as other clips. The film hits Digital next Tuesday followed by a physical media release on Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack in August. Check out the full panel below!
The film will hit Digital next week on July 28th followed by a Blu-Ray, DVD rollout on August 25th. Helmed by John Pogue, the threequel stars Tania Raymonde (Lost, Goliath), Nathaniel Buzolic (The Vampire Diaries, Hacksaw Ridge), Emerson Brooks (The Last Ship), Reina Aoi and Bren Foster (The Last Ship) who were all present on the panel along with Pogue and writer Dirk Blackman. The 48 minute panel gets to the heart of the movie with the cast and crew delivering great behind the scenes goodies for fans.
The latest installment in the franchise centers on marine biologist Emma Collins who, along with her crew, has set up a mid-ocean laboratory over a sunken island town. They are observing the first known Great White mating area. However, the enhanced Bull Sharks that escaped in the previous movie are also there, and they have the evolutionary goal of cross-breeding with Great Whites. The mission’s proprietor Richard Lowell believes that the Bull Sharks contain the key to intelligence enhancement, which he intends to sell for personal gain. Now, Emma and her crew are trapped on the crumbling town mere feet over the ocean, caught between predators above and below the water.
This one holds a special interest to me as it features Australian martial artist and actor Bren Foster who was part of the panel. Foster himself promised that the film will feature his trademark skills as you can see in the Tweet below sent to me!
