The summer Hollywood blockbuster machine that is Netflix strikes again with another solid looking entry for genre fans in the form of Project Power which boasts an all-star cast including Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This one looks like it’ll scratch the summer season itch for audiences looking for more adrenaline and good thing we have streaming services to get our fix.
A new trailer has just been released and this one looks like it takes the super hero genre and twists it a little bit as normal people risk their lives to take a pill that will literally give them 5 minutes of power! Of course some very bad people are using it for nefarious means and Foxx must break into action as a former soldier with a score to settle and Levitt bringing up the rear as a cop out to stop the evil using the pill.
Official Synopsis: What would you risk for five minutes of pure power?
On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.
Project Power also stars Dominique Fishback, Rodrigo Santoro (Westworld), Amy Landecker (Transparent), rapper Colson Baker who is known as Machine Gun Kelly (Nerve), Allen Maldonado, Andrene Ward-Hammond and Kyanna Simpsonand. The film was helmed by the directing duo of Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost. Premiering on August 14th, you can now check out the full trailer below!
