Filmmakers Micah Lyons (No Man’s Land) and Joey Loomis (Hello My Name Is Linda) have really pulled out all the stops for their upcoming action-thriller The Runners. The duo not only helm the new flick but they also headline it as well with Lyons even doing the hat trick by penning the script as well. Now that’s the very definition of a passion project.

The thriller which sees Lyons racing against the clock to rescue his sister Zoe (Netty leach) before she’s sold off to a drug cartel and never seen again. To wage this war he enlists his best friend to help him before it’s too late.

Micah Lyons, Tom Sizemore (Heat, Saving Private Ryan) and Glenn Morshower (“24”, “Friday Night Lights”) star in white-knuckle action-thriller The Runners, premiering this summer On Demand and DVD.

After losing their parents in a car accident, Ryan must raise his rebellious teenage sister, Zoe. One night, Zoe sneaks out to a party and is abducted by a charming older boy who intends to sell her to the cartel for human trafficking. Now, Ryan and his best friend have just hours to track them down and save her before she is sold and dragged across the Mexican border, never to be seen again.

From directors Joey Loomis and Micah Lyons, and starring Micah Lyons, Netty Leach, Joey Loomis, Tom Sizemore, Neal McCoy, Glenn Morshower, Jason Peter Kennedy, and Swayde McCoy, The Runners is available 7/14 on DVD and Digital from Uncork’d Entertainment.

Lyons and Loomis also executive produce so I’m sure they probably did craft service for the cast and crew as well. Neil McCoy also serves as an executive producer.

The tag line states that the film is a cross between Taken and Man On Fire so we’ll see how things go for the movie but the trailer does seem promising.

Watch the new trailer below and mark July 14th on your calendars as the film will hit DVD and Digital courtesy of Uncork’d Entertainment.
