While recovering from my four mile hike this morning, you know because I’m on vacation, I came across this awesome looking teaser for a new and upcoming martial arts action-comedy titled Paper Tigers which boasts a sensational cast including Alain Uy (The Passage), Ron Yuan (Disney’s live-action Mulan), and Mykel Shannon Jenkins who was sensational in Undisputed 3: Redemption starring along side Scott Adkins.
Ron YuanAlain Uy
The film which is based off a short film called The Challenger follows Yuan, Uy, and Jenkins playing “former Kung Fu prodigies who are now washed-up middle-aged men, one kick away from pulling their hamstrings. When their master is murdered, they must escape their dead-end jobs and overcome old grudges to avenge his death.” Tran Quoc Bao, who directed The Challenger, helms the new film as well.
Mykel Shannon Jenkins
It also stars Andy Le (Luc Van Tien: Tuyet Dinh Kung Fu) and Brian Le (AMC’s Into The Badlands), Matt Page (Sicario), La’Tevin Alexander (Portlandia), Tee Dennard (East of the Mountains), Joziah Lagonoy (Netflix’s Fuller House), and Phillip Dang of 102 Productions.
Now that’s a pretty impressive cast and the initial teaser for the film which has since wrapped production is looking to make a name for itself in the heavy flowing world of martial arts action cinema and if the film is anything like the teaser, then we are in for something special. I mean bone jarring, fists and feet flying special!
Cast and crew of Paper Tigers
Deadline brought word of the project back in August of last year and now we have some bone crunching first footage to share with you all.
Hopefully festivals will be up and running soon so this film can reach an audience and if not then maybe a Digital and/or DVD release will satisfy our need for jaw dropping unarmed combat action.
XYZ FILMS is leading the charge for distribution and promises “pure feel-good entertainment that we believe will leave audiences around the globe cheering.”
