I guess the year 1972 was a year when greatness was born because not only is it the year I was brought into the world but it’s also the same year that entertainment mega star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was born. The only thing that would make this cooler is that if we were born on the same day but alas, Mr. Johnson was born today May 2nd and I wasn’t hatched until December 10th. Oh well, I guess you can’t have it all but it’s still friggin cool to have one of your favorite action stars be born in the same you as you.
I have been a massive fan of his since the 90’s when the Brahma Bull was delivering pulsating Rock Bottoms to his opponents in the WWE and that fandom only crossed over to his movies. The man just radiates and oozes super star status.
To help celebrate the day, I have chosen one of The Rock’s epic fight sequences from one of my favorite flicks of his which is the ultimate Fast and Furious film Fast Five which introduced The Rock’s character of Federal Fugitive Retrieval Agent Lucas Hobbs. We all know the story that Hobbs and his elite team of operatives are brought in to bring in Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and his crew but they would ultimately team up and bring down the bad guys in epic action hero fashion.
Before that happens however, Hobbs and Toretto have one bone smashing brawl which kind of ends in a draw although Diesel does sort of get the upper hand at the end but we all know none of these guys can lose a fight on screen but when you’re this tough and deadly then losing is not an option.
Anyway you slice it, it is one massive smackdown between these two giant egos and it’s funny because it was kind of a premonition to the off screen feud they would eventually have in real life.
That’s a story for another time so today we say Happy Birthday Rock and what better way to celebrate it then to watch the man kick around Vin Diesel a little. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Now what kind of fan would I be if I didn’t serve up a little extra helping of The Rock kicking ass as I have also included his bruising Beatdown in the prison alongside Jason Statham from The Fate of the Furious! That’s right! This week you all get a little extra Rock to celebrate the special occasion and The Stath is along for the ride to help blow out the candles. Enjoy and once again Happy Birthday Rock!
