BOSS LEVEL: Frank Grillo and Director Joe Carnahan Chat About the Upcoming Wild Action-Thriller!

By: John M Jerva

If there’s one film I’ve been anxiously awaiting to see this year, it’s certainly the new action pic Boss Level which stars Frank Grillo as a former military operative who relives his death over and over again in an adrenalized take on Groundhog’s Day.

The film is supposed to hit later this year although the current pandemic might delay this one as well but that doesn’t mean we can’t still talk about it and that’s exactly what Grillo and his partner in crime Joe Carnahan, who helmed the pic, did at a special Q&A screening of the film.

Judging from this interview courtesy of, making the film was just as wild as the movie itself. Grillo and Carnahan hand out some great behind the scenes stories of what went into making it and you can check it out in the player at the bottom.

Official Synopsis: Trapped in a time loop that constantly repeats the day of his murder, former special forces agent Roy Pulver (Frank Grillo) uncovers clues about a secret government project that could unlock the mystery behind his untimely death. In a race against the clock, Pulver must hunt down Colonel Ventor (Mel Gibson), the powerful head of the government program, while outrunning skilled ruthless assassins determined to keep him from the truth in order to break out of the loop, save his family and live once again for tomorrow.

Also starring are Mel Gibson, Naomi Watts, Michelle Yeoh, Annabelle Wallis, Ken Jeong and interestingly enough former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

The film was supposed to hit this August 16th but that is uncertain with the way things are at the moment so hopefully we will still get to see it this year.

I also had the distinct honor in interviewing actor and filmmaker Eric Etebari who also stars in the film for his new film Emerald Run which he helped direct and we talked about this movie as well. He plays Roy #2 who is one of the elite Mercs out to kill Grillo’s character. Make sure to check out my exclusive interview with him when it hits as we delve into the film.

In the meantime, check out Grillo and Carnahan serve up some good stuff, spoiler free of course, about the flick that promises to be one hell of a ride!
