After Universal pulled the release of the controversial film The Hunt more than four months ago amidst two tragic shootings at the time in El Paso and Dayton and unkind political criticism, the movie has resurfaced with a new poster, trailer and release date set for a March. You can view the new poster below which features some of the great quotes describing the movie.
The Hunt was originally scheduled to hit theaters last September but the Craig Zobel helmed flick was shelved indefinitely out of respect for the victims and their families.
Official Synopsis: Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don’t know they’ve been chosen… for a very specific purpose … The Hunt.
In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of globalist elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin, GLOW), knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank) at the center of it all.
The Hunt stars Emmy Nominee Betty Gilpin and Oscar winner Hilary Swank as well as Ike Barinholtz (The Oath), Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), Justin Hartley (This is Us), Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), and Oscar nominee Amy Madigan (Twice in a Lifetime).
The film is also circling a lot of heated debate over its subject matter so it’ll be interesting to see if this one finds an audience like Warner Bros. Joker did. President Trump even condemned the film and it’s been called “sick” and “twisted” which only wants to make me see it even more.
Judge for yourself when The Hunt finally makes it to theaters on March 13th. Check out the new trailer below!
