The Raid helmer Gareth Evans has been keeping a low profile as of late but his newest creation which is the gritty British crime drama Gangs Of London has dropped a brutal and thrilling trailer. The series from Sky and Cinemax is set to hit later this year so check out the first footage below!
Official Synopsis via LAD Bible which brought the exclusive : The series will follow the aftermath of the assassination of Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney), the head of a criminal organisation.
His death creates something of a power vacuum on the streets of a ‘Gotham-like’ London, threatening the fragile peace between the web of gangs that operate in the area.
In turn, the ‘volatile and impulsive’ Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) must restore control and find those responsible for killing his father.
The series stars Joe Cole from Peaky Blinders fame and he’s joined by Sope Dirisu (Humans), Colm Meaney (Star Trek, Hell on Wheels, Layer Cake), Lucian MsaMati (His Dark Materials, Black Earth Rising, Kiri), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones, Suits), Paapa Essiedu (Press, Kiri) and Pippa Bennett-Warner (MatherFatherSon, Harlots, Sick Note). It’s a top notch British cast to say the least.
Gangs Of London will be 9 episodes long and is a co-production between Cinemax and Sky Atlantic. It’s getting some good press and it’s being described as The nine-part original drama, which is an ‘ambitious, visceral, action-packed thriller’ with family themes at its core.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Cinemax will indeed release the series stateside as it was announced the pay channel would no longer being doing original programming as HBO Max will be taking over.
The trailer doesn’t hold back on the violence so expect some maximum mayhem with this one. Along with Evans, the series is also directed by Corin Hardy and Xavier Gens.
Check out the new trailer below while we wait for more details to come.
