I can’t say that I’m shocked over this news but it’s being reported that Sony Pictures have officially removed the live action Masters Of The Universe reboot from their release schedule. The film was to hit theaters on March 5th, 2021 but besides actor Noah Centineo being named He-Man there really hasn’t been any other casting news or any news for that matter.
The report comes courtesy of The Wrap and sources are saying that the film is on delay for an indefinite period of time. The directing team of Aaron and Adam Nee were set to helm the pic and now everything is up in the air so to speak. They are also working on the script with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
Rumblings abound in the world of films that Sony will outright wash their hands of the film and give it to Netflix. This would make perfect sense since the streaming service is also developing not one but two animated Masters Of The Universe animated shows. One being from filmmaker Kevin Smith which is a direct sequel to the 80’s cartoon which is titled Masters Of The Universe: Revelation.
Keep it locked and loaded right here as this is a developing situation to say the least.
