Ben Affleck might have officially hung up his cape and cowl but the two time Academy Award winner is moving on to greener pastures with a headlining role in director Robert Rodriguez’s newest action-thriller project titled Hypnotic. Deadline broke tjhe news today coming out of the American Film Market and Rodriguez is penning the script as well.

Per Deadline, Ben Affleck has been set to star in Robert Rodriguez’s action thriller Hypnotic, playing a detective who, while investigating a string of impossible high-end heists, becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program.

The film is set to have a pretty hefty budget which will range between $60 and $80 million dollars. Filming is set to commence this coming April and  Studio 8 and Solstice Studios  will be uniting to put out the film which will be the very first collaboration between the two companies.

Studio 8 CEO Jeff Robinov spoke about the excitement surrounding working with Affleck on the pic. “Working with Ben on his award-winning projects, including Argo and The Town, I have seen how his versatility and creativity has made him one of the most talented filmmakers both in front of and behind the camera. It’s very meaningful to be collaborating with Ben again on this uniquely riveting suspense thriller, and I know he and Robert will make a terrific film together.”

The premise sounds very interesting and Affleck brings the gravitas to all his work and I still think he should be playing the Caped Crusader but at least he is still looking at action roles to sink his teeth in to. Keep it locked and loaded right here for more 411 to come!
