Tan, who is playing a mystery role at this point, posted the image from set and simply stated “First Blood…It has begun.” Tan stars with a rousing cast of extreme fighters that include Joe Taslim as Sub Zero; Ludi Lin as Liu Kang; Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade; Josh Lawson as Kano; Tadanobu Asano as Raiden; Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Bridges; Chin Han as Shang Tsung; Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion; Max Huang as Kung Lao and Sisi Stringer as Mileena. Most recently, it was announced that Jackie Chan stunt team alum Max Huang joined the cast as Kung Lao.

Aquaman Helmer Janes Wan is producing with first time feature director and award winning commercial Helmer Simon McQuiod serving in the director’s chair.

Not much else is known plot wise but we do have an official synopsis that really doesn’t say much: “A male protagonist who becomes drawn into the inter dimensional tournament, and begins to realize his true potential as a result.”

We do know that the reboot will be rated R and will feature the iconic fatality moves that fans have been craving but were unfortunately absent in the previous two PG-13 films.

Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to drop and get ready to center the ring on March 5th, 2021 when Mortal Kombat unleashes in theaters! “Flawless Victory!”
