Well it looks like the remakes keep on coming and here’s one that is rather odd but hey it stars action and martial arts superstar Michael Jai White so that is definitely a big plus in my book.

It appears that JCVD’s 1995 Die Hard clone set during a Stanley Cup playoff game in Pittsburgh, Sudden Death, is getting the makeover treatment and is now filming in Winnipeg, Canada as we speak. Actor Gary Owen ,who co-stars with White in the film, took to Facebook to officially announce that production is indeed underway. White also appears in the one minute video and you can check it out below.

The new version is being directed by Dallas Jackson who recently spoke to the LA Sentinel about the film which he called “the martial arts version of Die Hard.” Check out Dallas’ comments below:

“Now I am preparing a new film for NBC-UNIVERSAL it’s a remake of “Sudden Death.” It’s an action, martial arts film starring Michael Jai White. We will shoot in August and it will be out June 2020. We are shooting in Winnipeg, Canada. It’s a martial arts version of “Die Hard.” It takes place in a sports arena. Winnipeg has this huge sports arena that their hockey team plays in and they are letting us take it over for the summer. It’s this super cool Staple Center type of interior that we are going to shoot in. I am the producer, writer, and director on this.”

Jackson stated that he is also the writer and producer on the film as well but unfortunately, the film isn’t even on the IMDb right now but I’m sure it will be added in the near future.

Now of course, I’m just as skeptical as you about the film but I feel that with the talent of Michael Jai White involves, it is certainly going to rock in the action and fisticuffs department. Anyway you slice it, we have a wait to see the finished goods as Jackson said it won’t be out till next summer.

The article that Jackson was interviewed for hit last June and as of yet, the only film he has helmed is a thriller called, well, Thriller so it will be cool to see what he and White bring to the table for this one.
