The David Leitch news just keeps on coming and after I just posted an article about the Hobbs And Shaw helmer readying to produce a new action film called Versus, we know have some news that his other hit movie Atomic Blonde maybe going into the realm of the streaming sevice TV series.
It’s not a guarantee by any stretch of the imagination but it is good to still hear the rumblings that the world of MI-6 agent Lorraine Broughton, played awesomely by Charlize Theron in the film, might get the chance to continue.

Leitch teased the juicy details in an interview with /Film where he is doing publicity for the new Fast And Furious spin-off. In the article, Leitch stated, ” I think there is [still talk of a sequel]. A streaming service is into it. I don’t know all the details. I was a work-for-hire on that movie, but at the end of the day, Kelly McCormick – my producing partner and my wife – she will be involved, I’m sure, as a producer. That’s how I got the gig in the first place. We’ll see.”
Theron had shared word last year that a sequel feature was still in the works but nothing has transpired ever since she said that. In regards to a sequel movie, Leitch would certainly be up for it granted that all the marbles lined up perfectly and that everyone involved was also onboard.
“I think she’s an incredible character and it’s a really fun and interesting world and it’s an interesting take on the spy genre,” Leitch said. “Sort of like revisionist history look that’s centered around a character with an existential crisis and then we wrap it up with some great trappings of music and hardcore action.”
Unfortunately, if we are to get a sequel starring Theron in the future, it would definitely be in the far future as both Theron and Leitch are high in demand. Theron is currently filming Furious 9 as she returns as Cypher and she is also locked for The Old Guard which is an action/fantasy from director Gina Prince-Bythewood. Leitch, meanwhile, has multiple projects on the table including Ubisoft’s The Division for Netflix which he is in pre-production as we speak.
If a series did manifest, I feel that it would have different actors involved which isn’t a bad thing but a feature with theron kicking ass would be all the better. Stay tuned and keep it loacked and loaded right here!
