A lot of much deserved hype has surrounded the new martial arts, sci-fi epic Jiu Jitsu as of late with casting news a few weeks back celebrating the additions of Tony Jaa, Frank Grillo and JuJu Chan. They join Kickboxer franchise star Alain Moussi And Nicolas Cage for the star studded thriller that will surely be on the top of any serious action fan’s list.
Great news today via Alain Moussi himself as production has officially begun on the project in Cyprus which is being helmed by Kickboxer: Retaliation director Dimitri Logothetis. Moussi celebrated the announcement by posting a behind the scenes pic of himself, Cage (sporting an awesome Con Air looking mullet) and Logothetis. Check out the full pic below!
Official Synopsis: : Every six years, an ancient order of expert Jiu Jitsu fighters faces a vicious alien in a battle to protect Earth. For thousands of years, the fighters that protect Earth have played by the rules…until now. When celebrated war hero Jake Barnes (Moussi) is defeated by Brax, the Alien invader, the future of humanity hangs in the balance. Injured and suffering from amnesia, Jake is rescued by Wylie (Cage), Keung (Jaa), Harrigan (Grillo) and his team of fellow Jiu Jitsu fighters. They must help Jake to regain his strength in order to band together and defeat Brax in an epic battle that will once again determine the fate of mankind.
Also starting in the film are Rick Yune from the original The Fast And The Furious and Olympus Has Fallen as well as Marie Avgeropoulos.
Logothetis is directing from a script penned by Jim McGrath which is based on a comic book of the same name.
After filming is complete on this movie, Moussi and Logothetis will then wrap up their Kickboxer trilogy with Kickboxer Armageddon.
