There have been a few trailers already released for Ridley Scott’s next ambitious project called The Dog Stars. Unfortunately, I missed the boat due to scheduling conflicts but I’m looking to rectify that with a little better late than never promotion. After all, if anyone deserves to receive press (even if it’s from a little website that could like mine) it would be a prolific filmmaker like Scott. No stranger in tackling strong genre fair ripe with striking visuals, strong narrative and even stronger characters in his glory days (Alien anybody?), Scott is still charging ahead and making films and his newest sees a bevy of high-powered Hollywood talent battling the apocalypse.
A new and final trailer has been launched courtesy of 20th Century Films, and it sees hot Hollywood youngster Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein) and his trusty pooch battling the dystopian wasted badlands along with gravitas fueled veteran Josh Brolin. Expect maximum apocalyptic action fused with gripping and heavy-handed human drama so scroll below for a look at the new trailer along with the other recently released promos!

Based on Peter Heller’s captivating bestseller, “The Dog Stars” features a critically acclaimed ensemble, including Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney, Benedict Wong, and Guy Pearce. The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith, based upon the novel by Peter Heller, and the producers are Ridley Scott, p.g.a., Michael Pruss, p.g.a., Mark L. Smith, and Cliff Roberts, p.g.a., with Lily Brooks-Dalton, Brandon Scott Smith, Peter Heller, Aidan Elliott serving as executive producers.
The film tells the story of Hig (Jacob Elordi), a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, Bangley (Josh Brolin), has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. But when Hig receives a mysterious radio transmission, he ventures into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exist.
TRAILER TACTICAL REACTION: Ridley Scott has made more bangers than failures in his long and distinguished career and The Dog Stars looks like a gripping, melancholy post-apocalyptic thrill ride from one of cinema’s master storytellers. Josh Brolin never phones it in, and Jacob Elordi is further cementing himself as more than just a pretty face. Add in a stellar supporting cast with The Substance‘s Margaret Qualley along with Guy Pearce and the MCU’s Benedict Wong along with some exhilarating looking set pieces to run shotgun with a heart tugging narrative full of love, loss, and a never die resilience of the human spirit and this one looks like a cinematic winner. Will this be more sentimental than full on action film? Probably and even though I haven’t read the book that it is based on, the new trailer along with the subsequent promos still feature some adrenaline pumping firepower and slam bang theatrics so couple that with Scott at the helm and this slam bang cast and I’m in for the ride.
