Culminating a decades long friendship from their involvement with The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, genre stars Johnny Yong Bosch and Jason Narvy have collaborated since on a host of action drenched entertainment after the fact. From appearing together in such adrenaline pumping titles like the short film Ark Exitus to the very underrated Extreme Heist which needs to be seen, the pair have showcased their talents for a rabid fanbase reaching different generations throughout the years.
Both Bosch and Narvy have come together once more for a new dark and foreboding tale of vigilante carnage with Prime Video’s new indie actioner Spades. This title totally flew under my radar, and I literally found it while scrolling through my Prime guide yesterday and upon gazing at the official trailer, I was hooked instantly with its noirish visuals, visceral storytelling and jaw dropping action design which includes both fisticuffs and firepower. Do not take my word for it though, scroll below and partake in some brazen and violent shenanigans with Bosch taking on a new role worthy of The Punisher!
Detective James Bishop, haunted by the war inside him, hunts a masked vigilante called Spades, until his daughter’s disappearance reveals a trafficking ring and a past that ties him to the killer.

Now it’s important to note that this is Bosch’s baby in every way as he not only stars in the film, but he also wrote produced and directed the film which essentially highlights his insane skills with martial arts action wizardry and immersive storytelling. Bosch produced the film as well along with Narvy who plays a burned-out cop suffering from combat PTSD who must take on the city’s newest vigilante threat known only as Spade played by Bosch. Nobu Shimamoto and Kaiji Tang round out the cast.
