MAN OF WAR stars LaMonica Garrett as an elite American Special Forces veteran operating in Ukraine during Russia’s invasion. While fighting to protect vulnerable civilians on the front lines, the stakes become deeply personal when his adopted daughter is kidnapped by Russian mercenaries. Forced to navigate a brutal landscape of fire and betrayal, he must risk everything on this high-stakes hostage
rescue mission.
Along with putting his expertise in the director’s chair, Kaufman also penned the screenplay along with Paul Reichelt who also serves as an executive producer. Elias Axume also executive produces with Carly Marie Jones is an associate producer with Andrew Lewis, Isaac Lewis, Stanimir Stamatov and Yanko Ushatov rounding out the producer corpse.
Garrett who plays Michael Connor stars alongside one solid supporting cast which features Linds Edwards (Osiris) as Bunny, Andrew Howard as Dany Sundakov, Rosmary Yaneva as Riley, and genre favorite Jason Patric (Shrapnel, The Lost Boys) as Charlie Lewis. Martial arts/action icon, action director and Action-Flix favorite Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick, Extraction 2) features prominently as the heavy named Stanismir Koniev.
TRAILER REACTION: If you follow my site, then you know that I am a faithful follower of Kaufman’s ever since he burst onto the indie action circuit with the low key but exceptional The Prodigy. From there on, the action maestro has gone on to direct top tier indie action with Sinners and Saints, Daylight’s End, The Channel and most recently the sci-fi actioner Osiris. Kaufman is a true wizard at delivering grounded, practical, brutal action design and this one looks to be another solid notch on his filmography arsenal. Kaufman and his elite team know tactical action and serve up gritty and visceral set pieces that rival anything we see in bigger budgeted pictures.
Man of War looks to be a bullet riddled chef’s kiss with LaMonica Garrett proving that he has more than what it takes at headlining a chest thumping, crowd pleasing, action heavy film. The trailer is locked ‘n’ loaded literally with some of the best firepower infused sequences I have seen in a long time and it looks non-stop with a pedal to the metal, never give up aesthetic that will check all the boxes for hardcore fans looking for some serious military style action sequences that deploy a kick ass, no nonsense attitude. With a cast like this and Kaufman’s track record for delivering authentic tactical/military style action that is visceral and grounded should make Man of War hit any serious action movie fan’s must-see list and this movie looks to do for military style tactical action films what The Furious will do for hard hitting martial arts action.
Expect Man of War to make it into my Best of 2026 list at the end of the year!
