If you were excited to finally see The Furious in theaters next month, you might have to taper your enthusiasm a little longer as Lionsgate has announced that the martial arts action-thriller starring Xie Maio and Joe Taslim will now arrive on June 12th. The powers that be did not give a reason but at least it’s only a couple weeks later and not more. This delay will only serve to further amp up my excitement for the movie and the trailer that hit a few weeks ago was as advertised with some of the most brutal action footage ever put to film.
Synopsis: After the daughter of Wang Wei (Xie Miao) is kidnapped by a criminal network and he receives no help from the corrupt police, Wei sets out on a rampage to find her himself. His only ally is Navin (Joe Taslim) – a relentless journalist whose wife has mysteriously disappeared. Fueled by a furious vengeance, the unlikely duo ruthlessly fights against the kidnappers in this explosive martial arts showdown.

Veteran martial arts action cinema maestro Kenji Tanigaki, who has carved a stellar career as an acclaimed action design creator for numerous films, finally makes his directorial debut with a film that many are hailing as the nest action film to hit in years. Tanigaki formed an all-star cast to bring his vision to life as martial arts action stars Xie Miao and Mortal Kombat’s Joe Taslim headline the film with Brian Le, Joey Iwanaga and Jija Yanin adding some serious firepower to the supporting cast. The Raid’s Yayan Ruhian also stars as a merciless killer who takes on out protagonists, and it looks like he’s channeling a little Mad Dog in this one.
