Cue all the woke negativity as Prime Video has unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming balletic action-thriller Pretty Lethal. It looks like Ana de Armas has some stiff competition as the new movie sees a gang of ballerinas forced to embrace their inner Rambo when they are trapped by a demented woman (played by Uman Thurman herself) who is looking to regain a little past glory, even if it means spraying the walls with blood. Check out the deliciously dark comedy that assembles a little of that old 87Eleven action magic!
Promising “blood, sweat and tutus,” Pretty Lethal centers on five ballerinas who are on their way to a prestigious dance competition and barely on speaking terms when their bus breaks down in a remote forest. With no other options, they reluctantly seek shelter at an unsettling roadside inn run by Devora Kasimer (Uma Thurman), a reclusive former ballet prodigy. From the moment they arrive, something feels wrong—and their worst instincts prove right. As the situation turns deadly, the fractured team must set aside rivalries and weaponize years of brutal training, turning grace, discipline, and even pointe shoes into tools for survival.

Directed by Vicky Jewson (The Witcher: Blood Origin) from a screenplay penned by Kate Freund (Afterlife), Pretty Lethal stars Uma Thurman along with Iris Apatow (The Bubble), Lana Condor (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), Millicent Simmonds (A Quiet Place), Avantika (Mean Girls), Maddie Ziegler (Music), Michael Culkin (Surprised by Oxford), and Lydia Leonard (Down Cemetery Road). the film hails from the 87North production banner and sees Kelly McCormick, Mike Karz, William Bindley, and Piers Tempest serving as producers.
I’m sure there will be massive pushback on this one as some people can’t watch ladies kick ass but I’m all in as it looks violent and funny as hell with action design from the same folks who gave us John Wick. Plus, you can’t beat some of the creative kills and bloodletting as these young ladies deploy everything in their balletic arsenal to trash the bad guys and live to see the sun rise.
