Just like his martial arts action cohort Jackie Chan, international martial arts action icon Sammo Hung will also hit screens this year as Well Go USA has acquired the North American rights to his martial arts coming of age film Kung Fu Juniors. Like Jackie, Sammo is still kicking after all these decades of full throttle entertainment and it’s always a welcome sight to see the legend mix it up on the screen. Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired North American rights to the Chinese film KUNG FU JUNIORS which will arrive on home entertainment later this year.
Kung fu legend Sammo Hung (Ip Man franchise) stars in the coming-of-age film KUNG FU JUNIORS, directed and produced by Clifton Ko.
Caught between his parents’ academic expectations and his grandfather’s devotion to kung fu, young Liang Ruicheng loses his confidence after a youth martial arts competition costs his family a treasured jade heirloom, sending tensions soaring. At his lowest point, Ruicheng discovers how kung fu shaped three generations of his family and finds the strength to forge his own path forward.
The news of the acquisition of Sammo Hung’s latest comes off the heels that Well Go USA has also picked up North American rights to Jackie Chan’s kung fu family sequel Panda Plan 2: The Magical Tribe. While Sammo’s film will radiate a Karate Kid vibe, Jackie’s looks to instill a little Indiana Jones magic to the sequel.
