Fans all over love the more lighthearted Jackie Chan. The Jackie that deploys Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin style antics into full-throttle action-comedies that leave your head spinning. Don’t get me wrong. I love those movies too and I feel that Drunken Master 2 is the bar that all other action films should be set to, but if I was forced to choose between slapstick Jackie or battle hardened and serious Jackie like in The Foreigner, I would have to go with the latter. I feel that The Foreigner, which hails from celebrated director Martin Campbell, is Jackie’s finest hour as not only an action star but as an actor as well. The weight and gravitas that the international icon brings to that role is a chef’s kiss and the action design is rapid fire bursts of extreme and brutal action.
The Shadow’s Edge which is Jackie’s latest looks to have the martial arts phenom donning a similar persona as the one he did in The Foreigner, so I am definitely intrigued and excited to check it out when the film finally makes its way over here. A host of new clips, courtesy of Asian Film Fans, is readily available for consumption on the web so do check out the hyper-kinetic and violent action and weighty drama that awaits North American fans when it hits!
The first clip does not feature any beats of action, but it is a tense sequence where Chan and co-star Tony Leung come face to face with sweat induing results.
The next clip is what we all came here to see as Tony Leung goes full on Oldboy in a ultra-bloody hallway fight scene that give the aforementioned classic a run for its money!
The Shadow’s Edge hit Chinese theaters on August 16th so worldwide distribution should go into effect soon. Several trailers have been released in preparation for the film’s launch so check out all the latest ones below!
Asian Film Fans also shared a rather nifty behind the scenes look at the movie showcasing some of the blood, sweat and tears that went into making it and the fact that Jackie may be older but he’s still got it!
Synopsis: Macau Police brings the tracking expert police officer out of retirement to help catch a dangerous group of professional thieves.

In The Shadow’s Edge, Chan is front and center as a retired surveillance expert who was once employed by the Macau Police. He is forced back into action to aid an elite team of next gen detectives in taking on and taking down a ruthless and merciless criminal syndicate run by Tony.
K-Pop superstar Jun of the hit boyband SEVENTEEN will also play a villain in the film and will be the adoptive son of Leung’s character. Larry Yand directs with Zifeng Zhang and J_Black rounding out the main cast.
It does bode well that this new trailer does feature an eclectic mix of shoot ‘em up infused with some pretty savage and exhilarating martial arts action design with Chan delivering on all fronts. This is a definite must see for any hardcore action cinephile who likes their chaos served with a dash of the jaw dropping stuff.
