It’s been years if not decade since we were first teased a live action Splinter Cell movie based on the bestselling Tom Clancy video game series. The last effort featured A lister Oscar Isaac in the lead role but alas that fizzled out like the many efforts before it. If any video game deserves the big screen or small screen treatment, it is certainly Splinter Cell as it features a vast mythos of Black Ops action and intrigue and a merciless anti-hero in Sam Fisher.
Fast forward to yesterday and Netflix has you covered, well sort of, as they premiered the poster, stills and a trailer for their animated take on the series called Splinter Cell: Death Watch with Liev Schreiber leading the voice cast as Fisher. Said to take place after the events of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, the trailer hit at Thursday’s Anime NYC and while it may not be live action, it still looks damn kinetic and fierce with plenty of violent action. Check out the goods on the upcoming animated series below!
Official Synopsis: Sam Fisher is drawn back into the field when a wounded young operative seeks out his help.

Additional voice cast includes Kirby (The Sandman) playing Zinnia McKenna, Janet Varney (The Legend of Korra) taking on the role of Anna Grimsdottir, and Joel Oulette (Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender) bringing up the rear as Thunder. Hardcore fans of the game definitely know Anna Grimsdottir who is the ally and Tech Officer for Sam while the others are brand new players for the series.

Like it was mentioned above, this series hits after Chaos Theory as the newly released trailer showcases Sam attending the funeral of one-time comrade Douglas Shetland who he had to kill in the bestselling entry of the video games series. Couple that with some rather slick action design for an animated show including Sam jumping and firing off a deadly salvo of rounds before he hits the ground and this has the makings of a solid and satisfying adaptation of this dark and deadly world of hidden warriors.
The show hails from John Wick scribe Derek Kolstad so that definitely bodes well for the show too. Kolstad. along with writing the series, also serves as executive producer along with Helene Juguet and Hugo Revon as well as Ubisoft Film & Television’s Gerard Guillemot.
