Fans of Chilean martial arts superstar and icon Marko Zaror are currently taking in the phenom’s best role to date in Diablo, but the star is ready to go all hero once again in his latest sci-fi epic Affinity. Hailing from filmmaker Brandon Slagle who directs, Zaror plays a former SEAL suffering from PTSD who must overcome his handicap and sharpen his lethal skills once again when he saves the life of a woman. Teaser posters for the film dropped a while back which you can view below!
Along with Zaror, Affinity boasts a sensational genre cast including actor and filmmaker Louis Mandylor (Debt Collectors, 3 Days in Malay) as well as Brooke Ence (Justice League), Jane Mirro (ON i Ona) and Brahim Chab (Customs Frontline, Monkey Man). Along with headlining the movie, Zaror also served as an executive producer and worked on the screen play with Gina Aguad and Liam O’Neil.
The official synopsis reads: A PTSD-afflicted ex-SEAL rescues and falls for a woman only to lose her to mysterious kidnappers. He gathers an elite team to retrieve her but soon discovers the shocking truth: she’s been bio-engineered by a scientist grieving his wife.
Affinity will be featured at this year’s Big Bad Film Fest next month and will premiere on August 23rd at 2:00 PM. This will mark the world premiere for the movie, and you can find more intel on the festival here!
In recent years, Slagle has fast become the go to director for high-octane indie action helming such substantial efforts like Battle for Saipan, Breakout, Arena Wars and The Flood. Coupled with Slagle’s behind the camera skills and Zaror’s jaw dropping signature action, Affinity has the makings of becoming a genre classic and is on my most anticipated list for the year.
