Yesterday was a wash for me as I had planned to do a special reaction video for the launch of the new Mortal Kombat trailer, now with more Johnny Cage. Work and my internet being down until like 9 pm central time dashed all thoughts of that from happening so here is my official trailer post for the film a day late and a dollar short. I’m sure you all have viewed it by but why not give your boy some love and click in my site to watch all the bloody uncaged combat (see what I did there?) and check out Karl Urban crushing it as the washed-up former action star turned defender of the Earthrealm!
With tongue firmly planted in cheek and vibing with a serious tone all at the same time, this new film looks to course correct the first film which was a misfire to say the least. Urban’s Johnny Cage is front, and center and he looks to be the anchor of the sequel this time around which is New Line and Warner Bros. essentially saying, “yeah, we screwed up last time.” Interestingly enough, Lewis Tan’s Cole who was the focal point of the previous outing and not a fan favorite looks to take a back seat to Cage this time around.
What is obvious is that this Mortal Kombat looks to be just that. The trailer shows off enough blood and carnage to satisfy while showcasing all the returning cast members and new additions. There’s ample amounts of bone shattering fight action and stunt work and Hiroyuki Sanada oozing gravitas before he whoops on some unfortunate souls to satisfy hardcore fans and hopefully this film will indeed right the ship and give us many more films in the arsenal. We shall see.

Mortal Kombat II sees Hiroyuki Sanada returning as Scorpion as well as Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), and Ludi Lin (Liu Kang) along with Mechad Brooks as Jax. Joe Taslim (Sub-Zero), Lewis Tan (Cole Young). Other new cast additions include Tati Grabrielle (Jade), Desmond Chiam (King Jerrod), Ana Thu Nguyen (Queen Sindel), and Damon Herriman (Quan Chi). New additions include Adeline Rudolph as Princess Kitana and Martyn Ford. Tati Grabrielle (Jade), Desmond Chiam (King Jerrod), Ana Thu Nguyen (Queen Sindel), and Damon Herriman (Quan Chi) also round out the new cast members for the sequel.
Original franchise film director Simon McQuoid is returning to helm once again and plot details are being kept under lock and key for now. Jeremy Slater has penned the ambitious sequel and casting news is forthcoming. Slater is best known for writing the Disney Plus/Marvel Studios limited series event Moon Knight.
To add to the promo train, a slew of character posters dropped as well highlighting the entire cast. The look and feel of the posters do radiate old school Mortal Kombat vibes so check them all out in the gallery below!

The fake trailer and posters for Johnny Cage have been a slam dunk and it looks like Urban understood the assignment and is channeling a little of his Billy the Butcher character swagger from The Boys. Add in all the blood spilling action design you can shake a stick at, and it would appear that this Mortal Kombat will be all combative for all the right reasons.
