At this point, I’m probably posting this so people can just bitch some more but like I always say, I could give two craps what other people think as my opinion is the only one that matters. With that, I’m officially excited for the latest incarnation of The Man of Steel and today, DC Studios and James Gunn have unveiled our best look of Superman to date. From political unrest to saving the world, it’s a new dawn for Kal-El and this one looks to redo the iconic superhero while paying homage to the past while at the same time forging anew future. “Eyes up here!” Check out the new trailer now!
Superman, DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures,” the synopsis reads. “In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor, and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.

I’ll say it. I got chills and goosebumps from watching very trailer and this one was no exception. When the iconic music hits, it’s a retro blast of things before and a sampling for what’s to come. We get longer looks of Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane (who looks sensational BTW) as well as Nicholas Hoult as the new Lex Luthor. we even get more glimpses of Nathan Filion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern along with Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. She looks damn skippy too. There’s plenty of flashes of Corenswet swooping in and taking flight as he battles his massive enemies, while at the same time adapting his alter ego of The Daily Panet’s Clark Kent. Krypto is already my favorite part, and I love the ending of this latest promo. Bring it on!
Gunn is certainly tapping into the old school mythos of Superman, and this film looks spot on to what I marveled at in 1978 when I saw Chrisopher Reeve soar on the big screen for the first time. I know it’s the nostalgia nerve kicking in, but I will admit, that’s what we all need right now. No cynicism. No negativity. Just pure DC magic. Zack Snyder had his time but that’s over so here’s hoping Gunn can bring that fire again.
The film stars David Corenswet (“Twisters,” “Hollywood”) in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (the “X-Men” movies, “Juror #2”) as Lex Luthor. The film also stars Edi Gathegi (“For All Mankind”), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry,” “Gotham”), Nathan Fillion (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “The Suicide Squad”), Isabela Merced (“Alien Romulus”), Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza,” “Booksmart”), Sara Sampaio (“At Midnight”), María Gabriela de Faría (“The Moodys”), Wendell Pierce (“Selma,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), Alan Tudyk (“Andor”), Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Bird Box”) and Neva Howell (“Greedy People”).
“Superman” is executive produced by Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars Winther. Behind the camera, Gunn is joined by frequent collaborators, including director of photography Henry Braham, production designer Beth Mickle, costume designer Judianna Makovsky and composer John Murphy, along with editors William Hoy (“The Batman”), Jason Ballantine (the “IT” films, “The Flash”) and Craig Alpert (“Deadpool 2,” “Blue Beetle”). “Superman” will be in theaters and IMAX nationwide on July 11, 2025, and internationally beginning 9 July 2025, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
