Well James Gunn’s new DCU just got a lot of bad ass cred as Jason Momoa has officially shared the news that he has been cast as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow! That’s right! Aquaman is trading in his Trident for a cosmic chopper! This has been a passion project for the Hollywood A Lister who has made it known for years that he has wanted to play the Czarnian Bounty Hunter who is a cross between Wolverine and The Punisher with an intergalactic tinge.
Momoa shared the news by posting part of an old interview he conducted where he talked about wanting to play the infamous hunter. After the snippet from the interview, Momoa simply stated, “they called.” Check out the post below!

Lobo was initially created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and the bad attitude bounty hunter debuted in Omega Men #3 circa 1983. To those who aren’t aware, Lobo is a Czarnian bounty hunter who hunts down targets throughout the cosmos as he rides his coveted motorcycle. Like the violent Marvel properties mentioned, Lobo immediately became a fan favorite and was a show of violent force for the DC Universe.

Craig Gillespie is set to helm Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow which derives from a script penned by Ana Nogueira which is based on the Tom King comic book series of the same name. Milly Alcock is playing the woman of steel taking over from Sasha Calle who only played the character once in The Flash. Coincidentally, Lobo wasn’t a part of this series so it’ll be interesting to see how he is introduced as this character is destined to have his own spin-off.
Momoa hasn’t been the only one looking to play Lobo throughout the years as it was made public that The Rock was eyeing the role when it was set to be directed by Guy Ritchie. That fell through of course and Momoa has been championing ever since.
Say what you will, I’m looking forward to what Gunn and his crew have up their sleeves with the DCU so hopefully this all works out and becomes a success. Superman will be the deciding factor as Gunn has openly stated that if his new version of the man of steel isn’t a success, then the DCU is defunct. Interesting to say the least.
