Director Dante Lam, who gave us two of the best military actioners in recent years with Operation Mekong and Operation Red Sea, is back with a new operation and this time; we get submarines to go along with all the ferocious battle action and I do believe that we see a soldier strapped to a jet pack getting ready for takeoff, so I’m sold. Titled Operation Leviathan, Lam looks to up the ante once again and judging from this second new trailer, this one will once again bring us plenty of the good stuff. Lam is certainly a well-respected filmmaker, and he helms once again with a cast that includes Xuan Huang, Yosh Yu, Jiang Du, and Luxia Jiang. This latest rapid-fire flick is part of Lam’s military themed action series which includes the aforementioned Operation Mekong and Operation Red Sea.
This latest trailer gives us a lot more war-torn action design and certainly elaborates from the initial first teaser which was super short, and it includes all the wonderful tropes that fans have come to expect from these Chinese military thrillers. We get awesome running and gunning in super slo-mo, tracer fire galore, bullet time bravado, commandos repelling from lofty heights and the tried and true, hearty line shouted towards the end of the first promo telling us that “Chinese soldiers never give up!” With this new trailer, we hear “May You Return Victorious!” Yes, we know. I’ve seen the other flicks as well as the soldiers defying death in this teaser, so I pretty much guessed that part but thanks for reminding me.
Operation Leviathan is set tom hit China on January 25th for their New Year so expect more international distribution to be unveiled later in the year!
