Here’s a movie that creeped up on me and I discovered it today when it popped up on my YouTube feed and it looks to blend horror, sci-fi and military action with a dash of the romantic stuff. It’s Apple+’s new trailer for their upcoming thriller The Gorge which sees Furiosa’s Anya Taylor-Joy and Top Gun Maverick’s Miles Teller in a tale of two elite snipers who are given a mission that is not what it seems. There’s something down there and these two are our last line of defense if the shit hits the fan. Check out the new trailer below!
Two highly-trained operatives are appointed to posts in guard towers on opposite sides of a vast and highly classified gorge, protecting the world from an undisclosed, mysterious evil that lurks within,” reads the official synopsis. “They bond from a distance while trying to stay vigilant in defending against an unseen enemy. When the cataclysmic threat to humanity is revealed to them, they must work together in a test of both their physical and mental strength to keep the secret in the gorge before it’s too late.
What evil lurks in the gorge? Well, it looks like Godzilla if you ask me, but this one has the star power of two of today’s finest young actors, a searing and diluted atmosphere and taut thrills that you can slice with a knife. It doesn’t look like a full blown, bombastic spectacle but it does look interesting so we shall see.
Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver also stars with Scott Derrickson (The Black Phone) producing and directing from a script penned by Zach Dean.
The Gorge will debut exclusively on Apple+ next year on February 14th. Nothing says Happy Lovers Day like two elite snipers falling fo each other while they battle an unknown predator bent on decimating civilization.
