Action and martial arts icon Jackie Chan is back and he’s playing…well…himself in a new action-comedy that features one adorable panda. Titled Panda Plan, Chan plays a fictional version of himself as he stars as a legendary Kung Fu star (big stretch, isn’t it?) who must battle ruthless mercenaries who are out to kidnap a rare panda. Filled with Chan’s signature action design and onscreen slapstick comedy, this one looks to check the boxes for all family members. Check out the new trailer and key arts below!
Official Synopsis: Soon after legendary kung fu star Jackie Chan is invited to adopt a beloved zoo panda named Hu Hu, a notorious international crime syndicate sets its sights on the bear and offers a massive bounty for his capture. Faced with this sudden crisis, Jackie enlists the help of his agent and Hu Hu’s fiercely dedicated caretaker, leading the trio on an outrageous and unforgettable adventure as they seek to outsmart—and outkick—the bad guys at every turn.

What culminates is hilarious cute panda humor, slapstick Chan signature action and jaw dropping set pieces that only the action icon can deliver. I am more of a fan of serious Jackie in movies these days but it’s hard to say no to Jackie even when he’s poking fun at himself. Chan is no stranger, of course, when it comes to starring alongside cute animals and children, two things they say you should never act with by the way, so this one looks like a great film to watch with my daughter as she can enjoy the cute panda, and I can enjoy seeing Jackie do Jackie things.
Zhang Luan directs with supporting cast members including Hu Hu, Wei Xiang, Shi Ce, Han Yanbo and Jia Bing. The film will have a limited theater run starting on October 18th with a subsequent home video and digital release soon after.
